Drexel Hamilton Interns Earn Coveted Ivy League Spots
May 26, 2022 — Congratulations to two Drexel Hamilton interns who were each accepted recently into a prestigious and highly selective university for Fall 2022! Marine Corps Veteran and valuable member of our Capital Markets team, Alissa Maerzke was one of 12 transfer students accepted to Harvard University out of nearly 2000 applicants. While working at Drexel Hamilton, Alissa completed her first year of college at Columbia University pursuing a degree in Political Science. Not only is she going from one top-ranked school to another, she is also a first-generation college student in her family.
Fellow Marine “Devil Dog,” Carlos Orellana, also a valuable member of our Capital Markets team and first-generation college student, was accepted to Princeton University “Class of 2026” where he will pursue a degree in Finance. In 2021, Princeton was one of three schools in the U.S. to admit less than 4% of applicants. On top of this remarkable achievement, Carlos will be promoting to the rank of Sergeant next month in the United States Marine Corps Reserve into which he transferred in March after serving 4 years on active duty.
Alissa and Carlos, from your entire Drexel Hamilton family, we are so proud of you and will be cheering you on every step of the way!
