Just before Memorial Day weekend, Drexel Hamilton employee and Marine Corps veteran Tim Rose delivered eight iPad stands to the staff at Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Center. Sitter and Barfoot is a VA state-run Veterans home serving nearly 200 Veteran residents since 2008. It is named for two Medal of Honor recipients: Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter. As Drexel Hamilton looks for ways to partner with and support veteran communities, Tim reached out to Dana Rivera, a Director at the Department of Veterans Services and one of the social workers who works at Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Center. Dana (picture centered) told Tim that the Veterans at Sitter and Barfoot could use iPad stands. The Veteran residents keep in touch with their family and friends on Skype, FaceTime, and Zoom using iPads. However, the staff needed to physically hold the iPads for them. With the iPad stands, the staff can let the Veteran residents use the iPads for long periods of time. This is especially important as in-person visiting is not possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dana is looking forward to letting one of her Veteran residents watch his grandson’s wedding on Sunday.
