Program Designed to Support Combat Veterans Transitioning from their Military Service

NEW YORK, Jan. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Drexel Hamilton, a service-disabled veteran owned broker-dealer has announced its support as a corporate sponsor of the Warrior Hike “Walk Off the War,” a 1,300-mile hike along the Florida Trail for combat veterans. The hike began in early January starting in Ochopee along the western coast of Florida, and is scheduled to end on March 27, in Gulf Breeze, which is along the southwest portion of the panhandle.

“At Drexel Hamilton we are all too familiar with helping veterans transition to civilian life and believe in providing resources to returning military heroes to help them do this,” said James Cahill, President of Drexel Hamilton. “It was easy for our firm to get behind Warrior Expeditions’ commitment to helping veterans and we are proud to be a corporate sponsor of the ‘Walk Off The War’ hike.”

Warrior Hike, operated by Warrior Expeditions, was started by Sean Gobin, a Marine who served three tours of duty as a platoon commander in Iraq and Afghanistan post-9/11. After returning home in 2011, he decided to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.

“It’s fulfilling to see that what started out as a dream to hike the Appalachian Trail turned into a therapeutic experience, not only for me, but for the many veterans who have participated in Warrior Expedition events over the past several years that are seeking a way to transition from their wartime experiences,” said Gobin. “We are thankful to Drexel Hamilton for its support and generous donation. While many of our sponsors provide gear and other goods to help our veterans along the way, the funds the company has provided will allow us to cover other critical elements of the program.”
